Detectives Identify Suspect in Fatal Shooting

Fair Oaks Police District –Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are actively searching for the suspect responsible for yesterday’s fatal shooting.

Ismael Cruz-Delcid

Officers responded shortly after 3:35 p.m. to the 13700 block of Coppermine Road in McNair for a shooting. A juvenile victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body and quickly attempted life-saving measures. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A second victim remained on scene and was not injured.

Detectives determined Ismael Cruz-Delcid, 18, of Herndon arrived at the parking lot in his car. He engaged in a physical fight with both victims. Cruz-Delcid then disengaged from the fight, pulled out a firearm, and shot at the victims. Only one of the victims was struck and the second victim was not injured. Cruz-Delcid left his Honda Civic at the scene and took off on foot after the shooting.

Officers searched for Cruz-Delcid but were unable to locate him. Warrants were obtained for Cruz-Delcid for Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Detectives from our Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau obtained an additional warrant for Distribution of Cocaine from a previous narcotics investigation.

Our officers, our Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit, and our Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau are working to locate Cruz-Delcid.
