Bailey’s Crossroads Shooting Suspect in Custody

Mason Police District – A 24-year-old man has been arrested for the attempted robbery and shooting that occurred on April 12 in Bailey’s Crossroads.

On April 12 around 5 a.m., officers responded to a shot person call in the 3400 block of Lake Street in Bailey’s Crossroads. The victim, an adult man, exited his vehicle and was approached by the suspect who displayed a firearm and demanded the victim’s property. A struggle ensued and the victim was shot in the lower body. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Through detectives’ investigation, they identified Abner Neftali Selen Barrera of Del Ray as the shooter. Yesterday, Selen Barrera was arrested by officers with the City of Alexandria Police Department. He was charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Robbery. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
