Over 1,900 Pounds of Unwanted Meds Collected Last Week

We thank all residents who took time to visit our local police stations last weekend to dispose of unused, unwanted prescription medications. Over 1,900 pounds of materials were collected at our eight district stations.

All medications and supplies were transported to the Northern Virginia headquarters for the Virginia State Police shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, where they were transported for safe, proper disposal.

We also thank Acting DEA Administrator Chuck Rosenberg, representatives from the Unified Prevention Coalition (UPC) of Fairfax County, and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) for taking time to visit our Sully Police District today. Together, we can all help curb prescription drug abuse.

Dispose of old, unused, or expired medications at any Fairfax County Police station on Saturday, September 26, 2015 between 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Help keep your community safe and drug-free.

The police department is partnering with the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County on the Operation Medicine Cabinet Cleanout program, a national effort that takes place each year.

Safe handling and disposal of unused or expired medications prevents abuse, accidental poisonings and helps protect the environment.
