Update: Death Investigation Great Falls

Major Crimes Division detectives continue to work closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office on this case. Initially reported as a suicide, our thorough investigative efforts continue which includes critical interviews and awaiting the official report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. We will provide updates as this case progresses.

Cases which are initially reported as apparent suicides are assigned to Major Crimes Homicide unit. Until cause and manner of death is determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, reclassification of cases may be delayed until a thorough investigation is completed.

Death Investigation Great Falls

Police responded to an address in the 11500 block of Seneca Farm Way in Great Falls, Virginia on Thursday, May 26, shortly before 7 a.m. for the report of an unresponsive woman. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel were already on the scene and declared the woman deceased.

The scene was secured and Major Crimes Division detectives were notified and have since assumed the responsibility of the investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Kathi Lynn Lipp, 50, of Great Falls, VA. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. The investigation is ongoing.
