Man Charged with Felony Sex Abuse of 12-Year-Old Girl at In-Home Daycare

Reston Police District – A 40-year-old man is being held without bond today after sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl between October and December 2016. Major Crimes Division Child Abuse detectives received information on March 28, 2017, after the victim reported the offense to school staff. An investigation determined the victim attended an in-home daycare after school in the 13100 block of Kidwell Field Road, in Herndon. The suspect was not the daycare operator, but lived in the home and on assaulted the girl on several occasions.

On Friday, April 7, Fairfax County Police detectives obtained criminal warrants for the sex offenses and arrested the suspect, Oscar Perez Rangel, of Herndon, at the home the same day. Perez Rangel was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with three counts of felony animate object sexual penetration and two counts of felony aggravated sexual battery.

Detectives, Victim Services and Child Protective Services are working with the victim and her family to provide assistance as needed. There is no indication that there are any other victims connected to Perez Rangel, however, any information that may be useful in this case can be directed to Det.
