UPDATE: 17-YEAR-OLD MURDER SUSPECT NOW BEING HELD AT JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER

Today, the suspect charged with murdering a Reston couple in December had his detention hearing via teleconference.  The judge ordered that the 17-year-old be held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC).  He was then taken to the JDC by our Fugitive Unit.

UPDATE: 17-Year-Old Murder Suspect Served with Petitions

The petitions obtained in December for the 17-year-old Lorton boy who murdered a Reston couple in their home were served this morning. He remains in the hospital and is still not being identified because of his age.

The suspect has been charged as a juvenile with two counts of murder after an investigation determined he shot and killed Scott Fricker and Buckley Kuhn-Fricker in the 2600 block of Black Fir Court the morning of December 22. The suspect then shot himself and has been in the hospital since.

UPDATE: Lorton Teen Charged with Murdering Reston Couple

Fair Oaks Police District – Overnight, our homicide detectives obtained petitions charging a 17-year-old Lorton boy with the murders of Scott Fricker and his wife, Buckley Kuhn-Fricker. The suspect was the third person shot at the scene of yesterday’s double murder in the 2600 block of Black Fir Court in Reston. His injuries were self-inflicted and he remains in the hospital in life-threatening condition. He is under police guard.

The preliminary investigation determined the suspect, who knows the residents of the home, got inside and was then confronted by the couple. The suspect shot them both and then himself.

Four other family members who were home at the time of the shooting were not hurt. Our Victim Services Section has been assisting them as needed. Our Crime Scene Section will continue to process and document the crime scene today.

The petitions will be served on the suspect at a time yet to be determined, depending on his medical condition. His identity is not being revealed due to his age.

Detectives Investigating Double Murder in Reston

Fair Oaks Police District – Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that happened around 5 am in the 2600 block of Black Fir Court in Reston. Our preliminary investigation revealed three people were shot. Two were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 48-year-old Scott Fricker and his wife, Buckley Kuhn-Fricker, 43. The third person was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Several others who were inside the home at the time were not injured. Detectives believe all are known to each other and there is no threat to public safety.

Interviews are underway to determine the relationships between those involved, and what may have led to this shooting. Our Victim Services Section is working to provide support and resources to those involved.

No one has been charged at this time. This release will be updated when there are developments we can share.
