Fairfax County Police Department Investigating Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Death

Detectives are investigating the in-custody death of 68-year-old inmate Haywood Summers. Summers was taken from the infirmary at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) to the hospital for additional medical attention on Thursday, September 6.  The medical examiner will examine the body, but preliminarily, there are no signs of foul play.

The inmate had been incarcerated at the ADC since September 4. The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office and our department are working collectively to gather all information and to thoroughly document the situation.
