BIAS CRIME/ASSAULT: 8000 block of Leesburg Pike, 9/14/2018, 11:34 a.m. Officers responded for a report of a road rage incident involving a woman who was stopped at an intersection for an approaching fire truck with emergency equipment activated. A driver behind her did not realize the truck was approaching and began to honk his horn. The woman accused the man of calling her racial slurs and slapping her in the face with an open hand. The man said she was using racial slurs toward him initially, and that he did not strike her. Neither party was interested in pressing charges.
PURSUIT: 5900 block of Ranleigh Manor Drive, 9/14/18, 9:39 p.m. An officer attempted to stop a car for an illegal turn but the car sped away and struck a tree on Ranleigh Manor Drive. The driver and a passenger both fled on foot. The passenger, who was captured, was found to be on house arrest from DC, and in possession of marijuana. The driver was not located. Andre Turnman, 27, of Washington, D.C., was charged with possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice.
ROBBERY: 2800 block of Coors Park Court, 9/16/18, 7:12 p.m. A 16-year-old was running in the area of Jefferson Park when he was approached by two young men he believed to be fellow high school students. One of the approaching men displayed a knife and demanded money. The victim handed over $20 and the man said he needed more. The victim offered to return home to retrieve $50 more. The man held the victim’s cell phone as collateral when he left to retrieve more money. The victim went home and called the police. Officers are following leads to identify those responsible.

ROBBERY: 6000 block of Bellview Drive, 9/16/18, 8:33 p.m. An officer was patrolling the area and noticed two juveniles run into the stairwell of nearby apartment building. The officer then noticed the same juveniles punching a man in the stairwell. Officers quickly intervened to find the victim was bloodied, and the two juveniles were attempting to rob him. The juveniles were taken to the juvenile detention center to be interviewed. Charges are pending.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/DESTRUCTION: 7300 block of Gene Street, between 3:00 p.m. on 9/02/18 and 3:00 p.m. on 9/16/18. Officers responded for a report of unlawful entry at a home owned by the King Street Church of God. The home is currently being renovated and was entered sometime in the last two weeks. The suspects broke out a rear sliding glass door and window to gain entry.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 6500 block of Backlick Road, 9/13/18, between 9:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Officers responded for a report of a stolen laptop from an office. Officers are in the process of retrieving security video footage and other evidence for follow-up.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
DWI/ACCIDENT WITH INJURY: Lee Chapel Road at Onion Patch Drive, 9/16/18, 9:34 p.m. Officers responded for a report of a head-on collision involving two vehicles. When our officers arrived, the drivers of both vehicles were lying on the ground. Mr. David Algie, 28, of Fairfax, was driving a 1997 Mercedes-Benz when he crested a hill near the intersection, lost control, and crossed the double yellow line striking the second vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling with her dog in the car at the time of the accident. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries; her dog was rushed to an emergency vet and ultimately succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. Mr. Algie was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and was found in possession of THC oil. Algie was taken to the hospital as well and was arrested for DWI. Other charges are possible pending lab results and consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
BURGLARY: 6100 block of Meadowpond Court, between 9:00 p.m. on 9/14/18 and 6:00 a.m. on 9/15/18, Officers responded to a home for a report of a burglary. The homeowner left her purse on the first floor of the home near the front door. The homeowner believes the rear door of the home was accidently left unlocked and someone entered the home, stealing the purse. No other items were missing.
