Man Arrested for Unlawful Filming in Centreville Spa

Sully Police District – A 28-year-old man is facing three felony and two misdemeanor charges after detectives learned he was unlawfully filming men in a Centreville spa.  Kwame Anderson, of Newport News, was arrested at his home this morning by the Newport News Police Department.

Kwame Bryce Anderson (002)

An investigation began in May of 2018 after a man discovered there was a nude video of himself listed for sale on a social media website.  The victim could tell the recording took place at Spa World, located at 13830 Braddock Road in Centreville.  He contacted Spa World management and told them he found a video online of himself and others nude at their facility.  Spa World then called us, and we immediately launched an investigation leading to Anderson being identified as the suspect.

Our Cyber & Forensics Unit analyzed an abundance of evidence dating back to 2012.  It appears the videos of Spa World started in 2014, and showed 81 victims from 152 videos.  The case was turned over to detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau – Missing & Exploited Persons Unit after additional evidence revealed three of the victims were obviously juveniles.  Detectives also discovered that Anderson was selling other videos online.  Three felony warrants were obtained for unlawful filming of a minor, one misdemeanor warrant for unlawful dissemination of the videos, and one misdemeanor warrant for unlawful filming of an adult.

We also recovered several videos similar in nature with 84 additional victims that were not taken at Spa World. We are working with other area jurisdictions in hopes of identifying the additional locations and victims.

Anderson was taken to the Newport News City Jail, where he is being held without bond. We are working in close coordination with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, and will continue to update them on our investigation.

We are asking for anyone who believes they encountered Anderson at the Spa World to contact us on our dedicated phone line, text or email at:
