WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
PURSUIT/FELONY DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED: Edinburgh Drive and Rolling Road, 4/10/19, 11:39 a.m. An officer saw a moped with no registration and tried to make a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit was called. The driver turned into a neighborhood and the pursuit was called off for safety concerns. A short while later, the driver was spotted on Rolling Road near Barta Road. The moped broke down and officers arrested the driver. Officers noticed the man was intoxicated and discovered an open container of alcohol on the moped. Stephen Stanko, 53, of Springfield, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, felony habitual offender, refusal, misdemeanor eluding, open container and operating an unlicensed moped. Outstanding warrants from Fairfax County and Fauquier County were also served.
