McLean Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating after a 29-year-old man drowned yesterday in Difficult Run Stream in McLean. Officers responded just after 6 p.m. to the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike for a drowning. Fire and Rescue personnel found the man a quarter mile off the roadway on a nearby trail. The man was transported to a hospital with injuries considered life threatening.

Detectives determined the man was swimming in the stream that connects to the Potomac River. While swimming, he became submerged underwater and did not resurface. Friends pulled him out of the water and attempted life-saving measures. The man remains hospitalized in life-threatening condition. Detectives do not suspect foul play.
