Driver Arrested in April Fatal Crash

Mason Police District- The driver of the 2016 Honda Accord involved in a two-vehicle fatal crash on April 21 has turned himself in and is now facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter. Mirza Baig, 26, of Alexandria, VA turned himself in at the Adult Detention Center and is being held on no bond.

Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit determined Mirza Baig was the driver of the 2016 Honda Accord traveling eastbound on Arlington Boulevard just east of Patrick Henry Dr in the far-left lane. The driver of a 2018 Honda Civic was also traveling eastbound on Arlington Boulevard in the far-right lane. The driver of the Civic attempted to make an abrupt U-turn and was struck by the driver of the Accord. Detectives determined Baig was traveling over 100 mph prior to the crash.

Mason Police District- Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash on Arlington Boulevard and Patrick Henry Drive in Falls Church. 

At 01:10 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. Preliminarily, detectives determined the driver of a 2016 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Arlington Boulevard just east of Patrick Henry Dr in the far-left lane. The driver of a 2018 Honda Civic was also traveling eastbound on Arlington Boulevard in the far-right lane. The driver of the Civic attempted to make an abrupt U-turn and was struck by the driver of the Accord.  

Christina Hamilton, 37, believed to be the driver of the Civic, was taken to the hospital and was pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord were taken to the hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening. Speed and alcohol are not a factor for the driver of the Honda Accord.

A witness reported seeing a man run from the scene of the crash. At this time, detectives do not believe there is anyone outstanding. Detectives continue to investigate to confirm Hamilton was the driver of the Civic.

This was the 3rd non-pedestrian-related fatal crash in the County to date in 2023. In 2022 there were 2 non-pedestrian-related fatal crash.
