Suspect Apprehended: Arrest Announced in Monday’s Abduction and Sexual Battery

Sully Police District— Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau and Fugitive Track and Apprehension Division arrested Hien The Dinh, 20, of Stafford, VA, on charges related to a July 3 abduction and sexual battery incident.

Yesterday, detectives located Dinh’s vehicle in the 3900 block of Stonecroft Blvd. Throughout the week, detectives were able to link the vehicle to Dinh after reviewing hours of surveillance footage and observing the vehicle in the vicinity at the time of the incident. While following up on investigative leads in the 3900 block of Stonecroft Blvd, detectives found the vehicle unoccupied. Detectives maintained surveillance on the vehicle and arrested Hien The Dinh as he exited the business and entered his vehicle. Dinh was transported to the Adult Detention Center (ADC) and is being held on no bond on charges of Abduction with Intent to Defile and Sexual Battery.

Previously on July 3, around 11:30 am, police responded to the 14500 block of Northeast Place in Chantilly for a sexual battery of an adult woman.

The adult victim and her mother were outside when the mother went to a neighbor’s house to knock on the door. A man approached the victim and forcefully grabbed her in an intimate area and then put her in a chokehold. When the victim’s mother ran towards the assault, the suspect fled on foot. Units saturated the area but were unable to locate the man. The victim was not injured during the assault.

Detectives obtained video surveillance footage and FCPD immediately disseminated the photos and video to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. During the course of this investigation, FCPD allocated every possible resource to this case and invested extensive time in reviewing evidence to bring justice to the victims.
