Overnight Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Bailey’s Crossroads

Mason Police District- Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at 2:13 a.m. on Columbia Pike and Powell Lane, in the Bailey’s Crossroads area.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the driver of a 2010 BMW was traveling eastbound on Columbia Pike near Lincolnia Road when it struck a pedestrian. The driver of the car, Benjamin Lopez Encinas, 33, of Woodbridge, did not stop at the scene of the crash. The pedestrian was identified as Luis Fernando Jimenez Rodriguez, 26.

With the help of proactive officers, they were able to locate the vehicle and all its occupants in the 6100 block of Marshall Drive, where Mr. Encinas was taken into custody. Mr. Encinas was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash.

This is the 5th pedestrian-related fatal crash in the County to date in 2023. Year-to-date, in 2022, there were 11 pedestrian-related fatal crashes.
