Erratic Driver Leads to Multi-Vehicle Crash

Fair Oaks Police District – Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives continue to investigate yesterday’s Route 50 crash involving four vehicles.

Preliminarily, detectives determined the driver of 2007 Jeep Laredo was traveling eastbound on Route 50 toward the Fair Oaks Mall. The driver rear ended a 2023 Lexus then continued eastbound and struck a Land Rover. The driver of the Jeep then struck the guardrail on the shoulder of the roadway and crossed all lanes of travel toward the median. The driver drove across the grass median, went airborne and struck a 2009 Ford U-Haul Truck that was traveling westbound Route 50. The driver of the Jeep and U-Haul were taken to the hospital for injuries originally believed to be life-threatening but later determined to be non-life threatening.

Detectives continue to investigate to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs were related to the crash.
