Son Arrested in Florida After Stabbing Mother

West Springfield Police District – Jorge Andres Esquivel Rivera, 27, of Lorton was arrested last night by Florida Highway Patrol after stabbing his mother and fleeing the commonwealth.

At 12:56 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to an apartment in the 9200 block of Cardinal Forest Lane in Lorton for a stabbing. The victim was found suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. She was taken to the hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening. Officers determined the suspect, the victim’s son, fled the area in a vehicle. A lookout was provided to law enforcement partners. Detectives obtained a warrant for Aggravated Malicious Wounding.

Last night, troopers with Florida Highway Patrol found Esquivel Rivera and took him into custody. Esquivel Rivera will be extradited back to Fairfax County. The victim remains hospitalized. No mugshot is available at this time.
