Detectives Follow Digital Footprints and Catch Man Soliciting a Minor

Fairfax County – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau charged a D.C. man with multiple counts related to solicitation of a minor and are seeking additional victims.

On December 4, parents reported to police their child had been communicating with a suspect named “Alex” through Snapchat and received multiple illicit images from the suspect. The suspect also attempted to convince the juvenile to meet him in a nearby shopping center. Detectives began investigating and reviewing digital evidence. Detectives were able to link digital footprints to Brian Dolan, 48, of Washington D.C. Detectives confirmed his identity through surveillance video and linked him to devices used in the solicitation.

On December 7, detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau coordinated with law enforcement partners and the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police Department to take Dolan into custody when he arrived in the National Capital Region.

Dolan has been charged with three counts of Solicitation of a Minor and one count of Production of Child Pornography. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
