Detectives Searching for Hospitalized Suspect Who Stole Medical Transport Vehicle

Fairfax County, VA – Hours after being involved in a crash with a stolen vehicle, a hospitalized suspect is being sought for stealing a medical transport vehicle.

Fair Oaks Crash

At approximately 12:30 p.m., yesterday, Fair Oaks officers were alerted to a stolen 2015 Toyota Corolla near the Fair Oaks Mall. Officers saw the Corolla leaving the mall parking lot headed eastbound on Route 50. The driver saw the officers, then accelerated at a high rate of speed. The driver quickly changed directions and drove towards the westbound I-66 ramp. The driver lost control of the Corolla, entered the embankment, and struck a small hill sending it airborne. The vehicle landed against a concrete wall on the exit ramp of westbound I-66 toward Route 50 eastbound.

Responding officers provided first aid to all five adult occupants of the vehicle. Four of the five occupants were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. One occupant was flown by Fairfax 1 to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but later determined to be non-life-threatening.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a rifle, a pistol with an obliterated serial number, a baggie of unknown white powder and other drug paraphernalia.

The driver was charged with Grand Larceny. He remains hospitalized and will be served the warrants upon his release.

Stolen Medical Transport Vehicle

Several hours after the crash, officers responded to Fairfax Hospital for a stolen medical transport vehicle.

Officers determined the suspect, Rickey Lowe, 32, of Manassas was a passenger from the crash that occurred earlier in the day and was receiving medical treatment. He left Fairfax Hospital’s emergency room in his medical gown with an IV still in his arm and then stole an “MMT” Medical Transport vehicle. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned in the 4200 block of Annandale Road in Annandale. Officers immediately searched the area and Lowe was not found.

The Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) team assumed the investigation and a warrant for Grand Larceny was obtained for Lowe. Our officers, detectives from our Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit and Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau are working to locate Lowe.
