Detectives Find Missing NY Juvenile & Arrest Suspect

Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau Missing Person Squad and Child Exploitation Unit work together to locate a missing New York teen and arrest a man housing her.

On March 15, detectives from our Missing Person Unit and Child Exploitation Unit were notified that a missing teen from New York may be in Fairfax County. Detectives’ investigation led them to a home in the 7300 block of Sportsman Drive in McLean. Detectives and patrol officers arrived at the house and found the juvenile with Muammer Steve Demir, 20, of McLean. Detectives learned Demir drove to New York in August of 2023 and then brought the juvenile back to Virginia.

Detectives discovered Demir was in possession of child sexual abuse material. Demir was arrested and charged with Carnal Knowledge of a Child and Possession of Child Abuse Material. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held on no bond. The juvenile and family were reunited. Detectives anticipate additional charges for Demir.
