26TH ANNUAL NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY RESULTS✔

Fairfax County, VA – On Saturday, our district stations joined forces with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other Fairfax County agencies to collect 1,167 pounds of expired medications and prescription drugs from the community during the 26th Annual National Drug Take Back Day Initiative.

Individual totals for each station and cumulative amount of expired medications and prescription drugs above.

This bi-annual event addresses critical safety and public health concerns. Unused or expired over the counter or prescription medications left unattended can pose risks of misuse, potentially contributing to overdoses and unintentional poisonings.

If you were not able to make it on Saturday, drug take-back boxes are available year-round at each of our police district stations. Accepted items include prescription medication (schedule II-V controlled and non-controlled), prescription ointments, over-the-counter medications, and medications for pets. Prohibited items include needles (sharps), liquids of any kind, illegal drugs, non-prescription ointments and lotions, aerosol cans, and inhalers. Additional information can be found on the Health Department’s website.

Our district stations are always open to the public. Addresses and additional information on each of our stations are available at the following links:
