Cruisers Struck During Morning Pursuit

Officers charged a 47-year-old Springfield area man after a pursuit that began around 10:40 a.m. on Friday, November 27.

A 1999 Toyota Camary was reportedly impeding the flow of traffic on Old Keene Mill Road and an officer attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver ignored the officer’s order to stop and fled. Virginia State Police assisted officers once the vehicle drove onto Interstate 495. During the incident, two Fairfax County Police cruisers sustained damage after being struck by the suspect. One of the trooper’s vehicle’s also sustained damage. There were no injuries.

The incident ended in a parking lot in the City of Alexandria near Eisenhower Avenue and Hooffs Run Drive at 10:57 a.m. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Zoltan A. Mogan, of Rexford Drive, Springfield was charged with impeding flow of traffic, felony speeding to elude, and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Alexandria City Police and Virginia State Police assisted Fairfax County Police with the apprehension of the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
