Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Domestic-Related Murder in Alexandria

Mount Vernon Police District – Major Crimes detectives have an Alexandria man in custody for fatally stabbing his wife in the 8400 block of Diablo Court. A murder warrant was obtained for Ricardo Molina-Martinez, who is in his late 40’s.

The victim has been identified as Yesenia Membrano-Diaz, 35, of Alexandria. (note: the victim’s age was corrected from earlier information).

Mount Vernon Police District – Officers responded to the 8400 block of Diablo Court in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County at 4:50 this morning. A resident reported she heard screaming outside and then saw a woman outside on the ground. Officers found the victim; who was unresponsive, suffering from trauma to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and from the Crime Scene Section are investigating. A K9 team and our helicopter, Fairfax 1, responded to help search for a suspect. He’s described as a heavy-set man, wearing all dark clothing, who was seen leaving the scene. The victim has not yet been positively identified. Detectives do not believe that this is a random incident and there is no threat to public safety.
