Detectives Investigate Apparent Drowning at Lake Barcroft

Mason Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating after the body of 55-year-old Lee Bowersett, of Falls Church, was recovered from Lake Barcroft yesterday morning. Officers initially responded on Tuesday around 10 p.m. to the 3500 block of Duff Drive for a report of a missing person. Bowersett’s SUV was parked nearby but his boat was missing and he had not been seen or heard from since Sunday. Patrol officers and our helicopter extensively searched the area without success. Bowersett’s body was discovered near the lake shore around 6 a.m. yesterday morning. Preliminarily, there are no signs of foul play. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine exact cause and manner of death.
