2024 Road Shark is Making Waves: FCPD and VSP Unveil Fantastic Results in Wave One

Fairfax County, VA – First wave of Road Shark is a wrap with nearly 5,700 citations and warnings.

Between March 17 and 23, the Fairfax County Police Department worked in conjunction with the Virginia State Police in completing the first wave of our 2024 “Road Shark” traffic safety campaign within Fairfax County.

Road Shark represents a strategic initiative focused on enhancing visibility and implementing coordinated enforcement and educational activities to combat aggressive driving, minimize traffic incidents, and foster positive changes in driving behavior. Our dedicated officers and Virginia State Troopers play a pivotal role in the effectiveness of this campaign aimed at curbing the presence of reckless drivers in Fairfax County.

The results from wave one of Road Shark sets the stage for the rest of the year. Our officers swiftly halted reckless drivers, some exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour.

FCPD officers and our Virginia State Police partners issued nearly 5,700 citations and warnings. That’s over 1,900 more citations and warnings issued in our first Road Shark wave of 2023.

Wave two of Road Shark will begin on April 22.
