Man in Custody After Domestic-Related Fatal Shooting
Mount Vernon Police District – A Lorton man has been charged in a domestic-related fatal shooting that occurred last night.
Last night around 11:35 p.m., officers responded to Mount Vernon Hospital at 2501 Parker Lane in Hybla Valley. Alison “Kate” LaPorta, 38, of Lorton was brought to the hospital by her boyfriend, Huy Tien Nguyen, 47, suffering a gunshot wound to her upper body. LaPorta was taken to Fairfax Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Nguyen initially told officers the shooting occurred in a parking lot. Through their investigation, detectives disproved that allegation. Detectives determined Nguyen shot LaPorta inside the vehicle. He then drove her to the hospital. Detectives found the firearm near Nguyen’s Lorton home.
Detectives arrested Nguyen and he was charged with Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
